Room Parents

A great way to become involved in your child's classroom is by volunteering as a Room Parent.  Each classroom has two Room Parents who work with the teachers and the other parents in the class to celebrate seasonal events (Fall, Thanksgiving, Hannukah, Christmas, Spring, etc.), do special craft projects and assist the teachers with any needed communications with the parents in your class.
 
Room Parents also coordinate each class' contribution to CCBC's annual auction.  In past years, each class has decorated a chair or stool or made a basket of fun things for kids and adults alike.  Popular class baskets have included a Night on the Town with theater tickets and a dinner gift certificate; Kids' Travel Basket with fun things to keep little hands occupied on a trip and The Pampered Mom with everything mom needs to get a much-deserved break!
 
In exchange for volunteering as a Room Parent, you are given credit for two of the four workdays that CCBC asks each family to contribute.
 
Being a Room Parent is a great way to get to know your teachers well, a wonderful way to meet the parents of the other kids in class and is a lot of fun!  Information on being a Room Parent for the following year is distributed at the end of the school year; new parents may contact the office and let them know you are interested in being a Room Parent.  A parent serves on CCBC's steering committee as the Room Parent Coordinator and will be in contact with all those interested in becoming a Room Parent.

Steering Committee

Parents are welcome at all Steering Committee meetings. They are held on the second Thursday of every month, at 7:30 pm, at the school.
